When in Estepona: Eating

Estepona is not just a beautiful town, and holiday destination with stunning beaches and amazing facilities, it is also a fantastic destination for food.

If you have visited Estepona before, you will no doubt have found your own favourite restaurants.  However, many new places have opened recently, including some delicious new bakeries.

If you are a newbie to Estepona, then the town is basically split into three eating options.

Estepona Port is a lovely picturesque location, perfect for watching the world go by.  There is a multitude of options, Thai, Italian, Chinese, Japanese or Spanish.  If you want to party on after dinner, the Port also has several late night bars, which stay open till the early hours.  Warning though, they do not really get going until midnight, so if you are there at 10 you will be forgiven for thinking it is dead, wait a while and you will be in for a treat.

The second location is in the old town (pueblo) of Estepona, in particular the two streets set back from the beach are full of restaurants and bars.  All of which, serve until about midnight.  Whilst you will find late bars in Estepona pueblo, the closing hours are generally earlier than the port, so if you want to dance then the port is the place for you.  The pueblo is perfect for a relaxed meal, in a traditionally Spanish environment.

Finally, like most Spanish seaside towns, Estepona boasts an impressive list of chiringuitos (beach restaurants), the speciality is perfect for fish lovers.  The espeto is fish cooked on a sand filled boat.  Only available during Easter to October (roughly) it is a great sight and the end result is delicious.

Apart from that, there are always the restaurants dotted around the town, there are some lovely places that you can stumble upon whilst walking around the back streets.

My tip to find a great restaurant is, look for the busiest places which are full of Spanish families, you can virtually always guarantee amazing food.

Finally, whatever your taste, and wherever you choose, enjoy the fantastic range and quality.  You have a treat waiting for you.  In the meantime, here are some of our Dolphin favourites:
