Get into gear, summer is coming.
I am sure that if you live in Estepona, you might be losing the will to live with all the rain we have been having lately. But bear in mind, summer is around the corner, and we need all this rain to fill up the swimming pools, and keep us in water during the hot, dry months of summer.
Summer is literally just around the corner, and now is the time in Estepona when everything is being painted and preened to make it look beautiful for our forthcoming tourist season.
All the chiringuitos (beach restaurants) are opening up again, and the town is starting to rev back up to full capacity. Not to say that it sleeps in the winter, far from it, but the summer is when the town doubles its population and welcomes its summer guests.
From a busy working town from October to April, full of locals, golfers and the odd tourist, it transforms into a tourist destination, with inflatables on the beach for children, street markets and souvenir shops popping up. In restaurants that you can eat in all winter, suddenly you have to book a table and plan your night out in advance.
So what is your plan for the summer? Are you a prospective tourist to Estepona? If so, you are very lucky with what awaits you, gorgeous beaches, hot summer sun and amazing restaurants and bars for you to pass away the evenings, or days. Alternatively, you might be a holiday home owner, who rents out your property but uses it every year for your own holiday. In this case, you must be noticing the vast improvements being made constantly in Estepona, new green areas, new sports facilities, new hotels and newly paved streets. The result is stunning, and it is living up to its name as the ´Garden of the Costa del Sol´.
If you are one of the very lucky members of the Estepona expat community, then you know exactly how amazing Estepona is, even with all the rain we have had this winter it is still an incredible place to visit or live.
