When we choose Estepona all those years ago, it was not a difficult choice to make.
Estepona is an extraordinary place, in Summer time it is bristling full of tourists, the streets buzz with the sound of music and laughter. The beaches are alive with activities for those who want a bit more than a laze on the beach, and sun beds are ready for those whose only plan is a laze on the beach.
In the winter, Estepona is just as alive, but this time at a much more relaxed pace. The summer tourist have gone and the golfers arrive. People wander along the paseo, amongst the roller bladders, power walkers and the cyclists, enjoying the winter sun, and soaking up the winter atmosphere. The climate in Estepona allows for an outdoor life, all year round. We are now in February and the weather is still beautiful, with chilly (by Spanish standards, not English) mornings and evenings, and beautiful warm days, causing the locals to change their outfit at least twice a day!
Another fantastic bonus of Estepona, is that the restaurants and bars stay open and busy all year round, making it the perfect location for passing winters or living permanently. The options for wiling away the days are endless. And for the very energetic, you have the beauty of being able to sunbathe in the morning, and be ski-ing in the afternoon. The nearby resort of Sierra Nevada, is a perfect location for skiers, only two and a half hours drive away, the season is usually open from the end of December to the beginning of May. For the more sedate amongt us, activities include long walks either along the paseo, mountains or nature reserves dotted around the area.
So all in all, it was a very easy choice for us. We love Estepona and all it brings, and we will regularly be telling you why, if you want to buy or rent on the Costa Del Sol, why Estepona is the right choice.
