When in Estepona - Orquidario
Botanical gardens – Estepona
It seems like only yesterday that the Orquidario was launched in Estepona, but it will soon be celebrating its second birthday. The structure is a state of the art building with three very impressive glass domes, which are enhanced with blue lighting in the evening, making it a spectacular site.
Once inside, plant lovers will be in their element, there are more than 8000 different species. The plants have been specially selected in order to create a breathtaking display all year round. On top of the beautiful sights and aromas, there is a 17ft waterfall to wonder at, the pathway leads visitors around the Orquidario where beauty is round every corner.
The Orquidario is situated at the back of town, at the top of Calle Terraza, the road that begins opposite the beach, and can be found by looking for the two banks, La Caixa on one corner and Sabadell on the other. Follow the road up, past all the shops, you will see the Orquidario on the right, it has to be seen and will not be missed.
Due to its location, driving is not really recommended, much better to leave your car in the underground beach car parks and stroll up. If you get a bit thirsty on the way there is a huge selection of cafes to grab a cold drink or a tapa.
Also, whilst you are there, do not miss the opportunity to see the amazing fishermans mural. It can be found by carrying on up Calle Terraza, and looking to your right, where you will see three large blocks of flats each showing a section of a mural.
